WHAT ONE
STUDENT SAID
“My life is significantly
easier than most
of the people in this world.
Because of that, I have a
huge responsibility!  I must
do all I can to pass that
blessing on to others
I can change the lives
of many people . . .
This trip was a humbling
and inspiring one that
helped me to reset
my spiritual thermostat.

Exciting Opportunity

To fund the operation of the Maasai Dental Clinic, two funds have been established cooperatively by NASDAD and Loma Linda University.  The first is an annual operating fund – estimated to require $100,000 per year.  Of that amount, a portion funds scholarships to assist students with transportation to and from the facility.

A second fund will also provide operating resources, however, it is an endowment fund held at Loma Linda University Foundation.  An endowment of $2 million is expected to generate enough income to operate the clinic into perpetuity and decrease the urgency to continually campaign for operating funds.  If it is no longer possible to operate Maasai Dental Clinic due to political unrest or some other such unforeseen event, the fund will be used for a service learning opportunity that is essentially the same.

This plan is an exciting opportunity for members of NASDAD and Loma Linda University, partnering together to fulfill the mission embodied in their mission statement, to further the healing and teaching ministry of Jesus Christ,
“To Make Man Whole.”

How Can I Help?

Here are some options to consider as you determine how you can help the Maasai Dental Clinic.

Seize the Day! Make a financial commitment by sponsoring a day, week, month, or longer period of time.  You may choose the date(s) sponsored, such as a birthday, anniversary, or some other special event or milestone.  Each year into perpetuity you will have the pleasure of knowing that on that special day(s) you are doing some good work in Kenya at the Maasai Dental Clinic.  The funding cost of Seize the Day! will look something like this:

1/2 Day . . . . . . . . . . . . .

$2,500

1 Day . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

$5,000

1 Week (7 days)  . . . . . .

$35,000

1 Month (30 days) . . . . .

$150,000

To make it easier for you, your gift may be made in the form of a pledge payable over a period of five years.  Click here to view our Seize the Day Calendar to find out if your special day is available.

Gift of CashThe simplest way to give is with a gift of cash in the form of a check or gift charged on a major credit card.  You may make a gift online through Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.  Click on Donate Securely Online.  Please be sure to type in the name of the fund you want to support:  Maasai Dental Clinic OPERATING Fund, or Maasai Dental Clinic ENDOWMENT Fund.  Click here for a reply card you may print and return by mail with your gift.  You may also call the OFFICE OF DEVELOPMENT, School of Dentistry, Loma Linda University, to make a credit card gift at (909) 558-4754

Make a Gift of Service, Volunteer -  Dentists and dental hygienists who can spend 4-6 weeks serving and caring for the dental needs of the Maasai are needed.  Not only does this free clinic need to be continually staffed, but the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry has also recognized the value of this clinic for service learning. The School will be periodically sending select senior dental students for three to four weeks exposure to this unique environment.  This should prove to be an excellent opportunity to get students involved in the challenges, needs of missions, and world dental care.  Volunteers will have the privilege to mentor and offer expertise to these young future dentists.  Click here for a document which will help you with specifics to consider as you prepare to serve.  Once you’ve decided this opportunity is one you can seriously consider, please contact volunteer coordinators for additional information and available dates.

Whatever way you decide to give, cash, pledge, planned gift, or a gift of service, you can be sure the Maasai People appreciate all you have and will continue to do to relieve their pain and suffering.  And, most certainly Loma Linda University dental students will have an lifetime experience of utmost benefit in their practice of dentistry.
